What is Trauma?

Below is a very small introduction about trauma, this isn’t exhaustive, but gives a small overview as I think most people believe trauma comes from one big life changing event - this isn’t true.

Trauma isn’t just about one big, life-changing event. It can also come from ongoing stress, constant microaggressions, or a series of smaller experiences that add up over time. It’s not just the event itself, but how it affects us emotionally, mentally, and physically. Trauma can result from things like accidents, abuse, loss, or even repeated negative experiences. When we don’t process these moments fully, they can get stuck in our bodies, leading to tension, anxiety, emotional struggles, depression or PTSD.

Trauma looks different for everyone. It might show up as physical pain, trouble connecting with others, or just feeling “off.” But the good news is, healing is possible. Through breathwork and body awareness, we can release that stored tension and start to feel more balanced, peaceful, and grounded.
